So as soon as Rob Nicholls came to pick me after work, we went straight to Holywell Bay for an evening coastal walk and birdwatching. The sunset is just spectacular. When we got home, I still had loads of energy to cooked our dinner - grilled pork, served with fried aubergine, hash brown and sautéed spinach on garlic and ginger. Hmmm yummylicious! Happy tummy!

Wake up at 6:00am today to go and see this bird at Sea View International Holiday Park, Boswinger, South Cornwall Coast. After seeing the Hoopoe, we went birdwatching in Holywell Bay in the morning and Botallack in the afternoon. The weather is just sooo cold with gusty blustering wind, with thick fog and mist. The Cornish Choughs were no show in Holywell Bay but we saw 2x Choughs in Botallack. In the evening we attended a workshop on - "Supporting Wildlife Recorders: preparation for the inevitable, witnessing wildlife disturbance" by Cat Lee, National Trust, Lizard and Sue Sayer, Cornwall Seal Group. Great speakers. I really enjoyed my evening. As it was so late by the time we reach home, we just had fish and chips. Such a busy day on my day off. We're out of the house by 7:00am and we came home at 11:00pm. But I love it! Gives me self satisfaction and happiness. Sunny and dry but still a bit cold and chilly from the easterly wind. Attend the Sunday Mass at the Roman Catholic Church, Our Lady Star of the Sea and Saint Anthony in St Mawes in the morning. It's also the 81st birthday of father Terrence. Followed by a wonderful walk at the beautiful "The Lost Gardens of Heligan". Loads of gorgeous flowers in bloom. Loads of Snowdrops, Daffodils and Camellias. Loads of amazing wildlife too. Came home in the evening and made a delicious dinner. Roast Cornish pork served with basmati rice, beans, peas and homemade apple sauce. Sooo lush! Happy tummy! Location: Helman Tor, Bodmin
Photographer: Rowena Castillo Nicholls Videographer: Rob Nicholls Went for a lovely walk in Helman Tor to shed off all those excess calories from Christmas and New Year. The weather is gorgeous. Sunny but on the cold front, really freezing cold. But nevertheless, it's a great day out with Rob and his friends Mike and Graham plus Arren and Tessa. Helman Tor have a special place in my heart. This is the place where I saw the Bearded Vulture, also known as the LAMMERGEIER or OSSIFRAGE on the 23 May 2016. It's Cornwall's first as well as UK's first so I am really ecstatic that I was the first one who saw and photograph it here in Cornwall. Helman Tor (Cornish: Torr Helman) is a tor in mid Cornwall, England, UK. It is a nature reserve managed by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust. It is a County Geology Site and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. It lies on the Saints' Way. It is adjacent to Red Moor Site of Special Scientific Interest and Breney Common Special Area of Conservation . It is the northern end of a granite ridge. There is a logan stone or rocking stone on the site. There is a prehistoric hill fort and a stone hut circle settlement on the site. There is evidence of walls constructed in Neolithic period, around 6,000 years ago, as well as some level platforms, thought to be house sites, one platform has a network of postholes. There is also remains of a field system. These are similar to those at Carn Brea and limited excavation was carried out by Roger Mercer. |
