International Wives Club
AIM:
• Support migrant women to overcome their struggles and barriers in living on another country.
A lot of international wives do not immediately recognised the abuse they are suffering. There are many international wives suffering from abuse silently and this condition can lead to depression, anxiety and isolation which can then lead to mental health illness/disorder. "Prevention is better than cure".
VERBAL ABUSE, EMOTIONAL ABUSE, MENTAL TORTURE, BULLYING, DISCRIMINATION: are just a few of the problems that international women experienced not only from their husbands but from the family of their husbands too.
We usually hear and see that the husband is the perpetrator. But in some cases, the perpetrators are the stepdaughters, stepsons, mother-in-laws, father-in-laws, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and even friends of the husband.
This usually happens to wives who are married to other nationality who are divorced, separated or widow with children. Children always see the "NEW" wife as a competitor for their father's love and affection. Because of their jealousy, they make the life of the new wife a living hell. Just because they come from a different race, this is not an excuse to treat them like garbage. They have feelings too. They get hurt. That's why it's better if they hurt you physically, at least the scars would heal. But if they hurt you emotionally, the damage is there forever. It's not something you just forget with a click of a finger.
This is really an important issue coz this can lead to mental health illness/disorder.
